CINCINNATI, OH (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers had their five-game winning streak snapped with a 7-3 loss to the Reds in Cincinnati on Wednesday night.
Avisail Garcia plated a run in the fifth to reach 35 RBI this season while Daniel Vogelbach hit a solo homer in the ninth.
Brett Anderson suffered the loss after giving up four runs in three frames.
For the Reds, Vladimir Gutierrez earned his second career win after he struck out seven Brewer batters over seven innings. Tyler Stephenson led the way for Cincinnati offensively, slapping a pair of doubles and driving in three runs.
The rubber match of this three-game series will take place Thursday with pregame coverage on WHBL starting at 11am.
Meanwhile, on the injury front, Brewers third baseman Travis Shaw exited Wednesday night’s game with a dislocated shoulder. Shaw injured himself diving for a ground ball. He is scheduled for imaging today to determine the extent of the damage.
Counsell also said Lorenzo Cain is out for the rest of June. Although he has taken light practices, Counsell said Cain’s hamstring injury is very serious and he doesn’t plan on starting him before July 1st.
