Many Sheboyganites likely drive past the city’s lakefront without knowing all that can be experienced there, but on Saturday the “Lakefront Open House” hopes to change that.
The free event will offer tours of the Harbor Centre Marina where the Sheriff and Fireboats will be on display and the US Coast Guard Auxiliary does free boat safety checks. For adults, the marina’s new Bar 43 will be serving cold beverages on what’s supposed to be a hot day. And right down the road the US Coast Guard – Station Sheboygan will offer tours where you can see their equipment and how they use it.
Those interested in sailing can take in free adaptive and veteran sails and sign up to take a sailing course with the Sailing Education Association of Sheboygan, and the Sheboygan Youth Sailing Center will offer free family sails in the harbor.
Sea Scouts Ship 50 will have their Kayaks and Stand-Up-Paddle boards on the water, and they can sign you up for their co-ed program.
And finally, the Sheboygan Yacht Club will be open to the public.
Hours on Saturday are from 10 until 2, and you can find lunch at the Sailing Education Association’s brat fry or at several of the other venues featured.
