A death toll of 145 Sheboygan County residents has now been reached with the reports of two more casualties today by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. One was in their 60s, while the other was at least 80 year of age. Of the deceased so far, one was between 10 and 19 years old, three were in their 30s, five in their 40s, five in their 50s, twenty-three were in their 60s, thirty-two were in their 70s and seventy-six were 80 years or older.
With 5 confirmed positive tests since Wednesday, balanced against the two deaths and 5 recoveries, the active case count in Sheboygan County dropped by two to 82 persons currently battling the SARS-CoV-2 virus. 13,824 cases have been logged in Sheboygan County since the start of the pandemic. Three persons are currently hospitalized, and a total of 612 Sheboygan County confirmed cases have ever been hospitalized for treatment.
Since experiencing a significant drop in trajectory last week, the current two-week statistics in Sheboygan County indicate no significant change during the past week. The burden is “Moderately High” at 69 cases per 100,000 persons, and the activity level is considered “High” after being labeled “Medium” in last week’s summary from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Wisconsin added 272 more cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday, and the confirmed death toll is now 7,040, a figure which yesterday had been at 7,003. Deaths due to COVID-19 have now been segregated by the State DHS into “Confirmed Deaths” on one hand, and “Probable Deaths” on the other hand, a number which now stands at 774. The Wisconsin Hospitals Association reported a net gain of 6 patients statewide. 227 persons are currently being treated in hospitals for COVID-19, 70 of those in ICU beds, and 367 ventilators are in use statewide.
The Sheboygan County DPH reports only two facility-wide investigations as of today; Sheboygan North and Sheboygan South High Schools.
207 more Sheboygan County residents are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. That’s 46,332, or 40.2% of the county’s population. And with 171 doses of vaccine given since Wednesday, 52,794 persons, or 45.8% of the population, have received at least one dose.
