KANSAS CITY, MO (WHBL) – Andrew Benintendi broke a scoreless tie with an RBI-single in the eighth inning as the Royals blanked the Milwaukee Brewers 2-0 in Kansas City on Tuesday night. The other run came later in the eighth on a throwing error from Brewers’ shortstop Luis Urias.
Christian Yelich returned to the Brewers’ lineup, but went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts as the Crew wasted another good pitching performance – this time by Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff has allowed only three earned runs over his last three starts (22 innings) but has two losses and a no-decision to show for it. He fell to 2-2 on the season.
The Brewers and Royals will wrap up their two-game series on Wednesday night. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 6:35.
