The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County continued on a slow downward trend this week, as Friday’s update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health reported 108 cases in Sheboygan County. Of the 57 test results received, 3 were positive, raising the running case total to 13,762. With 12 recoveries, the active case total declined by 9, while an additional 2 persons required hospitalization for treatment, raising the county’s COVID-19 patient population to 4.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services recorded 513 more positive tests for COVID-19 since Thursday, raising the running case total to 605,376. There was 1 more death attributed to the coronavirus, and the state’s toll now stands at 6,954. 65 more persons needed to be hospitalized, and after accounting for deaths and discharges, the state’s patient population according to the Wisconsin Hospitals Association saw a net gain of 9, with 326 now being treated. 79 of those are in ICU beds, and 363 patients in Wisconsin are on ventilators.
As of Friday morning, the Wisconsin DHS reports that 50,022 Sheboygan County residents have now received at least one shot of vaccine. That’s 363 more than on Thursday, and amounts to 43.4% of the county’s population. 44,094 have been fully vaccinated.
With ages 12-15 now approved to receive the Pfizer vaccine, 142 in that age group have received at least one shot in Sheboygan County, and two have been fully vaccinated.
Advocate Aurora reports that it had given vaccine to more than 1,250 adolescents ages 12-17 in Wisconsin on Thursday after the CDC made the formal recommendation for its administration to that age group. Another 2,955 appointments for 12-17-year-olds are slated through Sunday, May 16, with more still being scheduled.
