With 6 recoveries and 7 positive test results reported since Tuesday by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, the active case count of COVID-19 cases in the county increased by one, to 111 cases on Wednesday. Hospitalizations increased by one, raising the count’s patient population to 4.
Based upon data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services tracking those who have received at least one dose of vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, fewer than 100 doses are being administered each day in Sheboygan County so far this week. 49,469 have received at least one dose of vaccine since it became available, while 43,363 have completed their course of immunizations.
In response to the declining rate of vaccinations, a group of around 40 Sheboygan County healthcare providers, nonprofits, community organizations, business leaders, faith leaders and education leaders have released a joint statement in support of COVID-19 vaccines. The release, included with the daily issue of updates from the County DPH, reiterates that the COVID-19 vaccines have been found to be safe, and that getting vaccinated is a key action that can be taken to protect neighbors, friends, schools, businesses and the community. The group is encouraging persons to get vaccinated and to encourage family and friends to do the same. With the understanding that questions may linger about vaccinations and their safety, persons are encouraged to reach out to healthcare providers, or to get more information online at www.getvaccineanswers.org.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health is offering several community walk-in clinics throughout Sheboygan County, detailed on the DPH Facebook page, and also available here, plus homebound vaccine appointments are also being offered. To schedule an in-home vaccination, call 920-395-9890.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services recorded another 558 positive tests confirming cases of COVID-19, raising the running total case count to 604,378. 18 more deaths were added since Tuesday, putting the toll at 6,934, and 82 more persons were hospitalized for treatment. A net gain of 1 was seen in the state’s COVID-19 patient population, and of the 328 hospitalized, 96 are in ICU beds. 371 ventilators are currently in use throughout Wisconsin.
