The fourth death due to COVID-19 within a week has been reported on Thursday by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. The deceased, someone in their 70s, becomes the 142nd victim of the pandemic in Sheboygan County, and the 32nd in their 70s. Seventy-four have been 80 or older, twenty-two were in their 60s, five were in their 50s, five in their 40s, three were in their 30s and one was between 10 and 19 years old.
8 of the 85 test results received since Wednesday were positive for COVID-19, raising the total count to 13,706 in the county. With 8 recoveries, the active case count fell 1 to 122, and another hospitalization was recorded resulting in 3 patients currently being treated.
No significant change was noted in the trajectory of two-week case averages. Sheboygan County is experiencing a “high” level of activity, with 94.3 cases per 100,000 persons.
The State Department of Health Services added 667 positive test results to the total case count, which now stands at 601,603. 14 more deaths pushed the toll to 6,877, and 68 more persons were hospitalized. A net change of 13 fewer patients was noted, and 323 are now being treated for COVID-19, 94 of those in ICU beds. 379 ventilators are in use.
Vaccination rates continue to decline, both statewide and in Sheboygan County, where 48,663 persons have received at least one dose of vaccine – an increase of just 131 since Wednesday. 35.8% of Sheboygan County residents, amounting to 41,258 persons, are now fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
