GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A formal complaint about how Green Bay conducted the November election is expected to be filed today with the Wisconsin Elections Commission.
According to Republican Party of Brown County Chair James Fitzgerald, The Amistad Project is holding a news conference at the Brown County Courthouse at 1 p.m. to discuss the complaint.
Erick Kaardal, attorney for the group, and former Brown County Clerk Sandy Juno will be at the press conference, along with five Green Bay residents.
Fitzgerald says the complaint cites emails that show the influence outside groups had on conducting the election.
Conservatives have alleged the emails show Mayor Eric Genrich’s office allowed outside groups, including former Democratic operative Michael Spitzer-Rubenstein, to take over election decisions from the city clerk’s office.
Genrich and other city officials have maintained the city did nothing illegal and they remain proud of how the election was conducted.
