A group of farmers recently filed a lawsuit against multiple ag companies such as Bayer CropScience, Corteva, Syngenta Corporation, and BASF Agricultural Solutions.
The farmers say that the companies were working together with wholesalers to stop producers from having a free and open market like they’re supposed to have. The businesses used their power to raise prices on vital ag products such as fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, and seeds.
According to the Associated Press, farmers want a judge to force the above companies to give up “unlawful profits” and pay back producers who were impacted by the hiked-up prices.
When asked for a comment by the Associated Press, Bayer CropScience and Corteva didn’t respond right away. As for Syngenta Corporation and BASF Agricultural Solutions, both companies rejected the claims.
