MILWAUKEE, WI (METRO) – Wisconsin’s Republican U.S. Senator says critics are purposefully misrepresenting what he’s said about the riot at the Capitol back in January.
Senator Ron Johnson said once again yesterday that his criticism of Black Lives Matter is about the riots, not race.
“Remember those leftist activists, those protesters, that some of them turned violent, turned into riots, a lot of them are white. You see the pictures on Tucker Carlson, in fact most of them are white. So there’s no racism involved in this at all.”
Johnson has said for a while that he didn’t feel in danger back on January 6th. He said it would have been different had it been BLM or Antifa rioters who forced their way into the Capitol.
Wisconsin Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes says Johnson’s comments are based entirely on race.
Johnson said Monday that such criticism (quote) “just fires me up more.”
