SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) – Two people were hospitalized when fire breaks out at a home on Oakland Avenue Saturday afternoon. The Sheboygan County Dispatch Center got a 911 call at 12:34 Saturday afternoon of a fire in the 1500 block of Oakland Avenue with people trapped on the 2nd floor porch. When crews arrived, they rescued the people on the porch before putting out the fire, which appears to have started in the basement. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had spread to the first and second floors of the home. Crews stayed on the scene until around 5pm to watch for hot spots and investigate the fire.
The Red Cross is helping the families who lived in the home. One adult and one child were taken to the hospital to be treated, and later released. A number of pets were also rescued from the home. The damage estimate is around $60,000.
