MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services has announced a handful of new groups will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccines beginning on March 1st if supplies are available.
The list includes educators and daycare workers along with employees of all Boys and Girls Clubs and YMCA’s in the state along with college professors that have direct contact with students.
“Public-facing” essential workers will also be added to the list on that date, including 911 operators and those who work in the food supply chain. Public utility workers that maintain gas, electric, water, and internet infrastructure have also been added along with public transportation drivers.
An expanded list of medical and long-term care workers will also be eligible for the vaccine starting March 1st.
According to the latest DHS data over 345,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the state and around 100,000 are listed as in transit. DHS also reports that the state has been receiving around 70,000 doses of vaccine each week.
