MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Wisconsin’s seven-day averages of new coronavirus cases and test positivity declined on Monday, but the seven-day average of deaths increased.
The state Department of Health Services reported 1,083 new cases on Monday, or 21.1% of the 5,132 tests completed. Another 19 people died of complications of COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Seven-day averages moved to 2,075 new cases, 24.6% test positivity and 44 deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 522,877 confirmed infections, more than 2.4 million negative tests and 5,470 deaths. DHS considers 491,962 people to have recovered from COVID-19.
As of Monday, 239,102 doses of vaccines had been administered in Wisconsin.
There were no inpatients and one person receiving outpatient treatment on Monday at the state’s alternate care facility near Milwaukee.
Overall hospitalizations were up slightly on Monday. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported a one-day increase of 22 COVID-19 patients to 875. That number, however, was 142 lower than a week earlier. Of those, 209 were in intensive care, two more than on Sunday, but 12 fewer than a week earlier.
In the Northeast region, there were 95 total COVID-19 patients, up 13 in a day but down four over a week. Of those, 26 were in ICUs, three more than on Sunday, but two fewer than a week earlier. Fox Valley region hospitals reported 74 COVID-19 patients, four more than on Sunday and two fewer than a week earlier. Eight of those were in ICUs, two more than on Sunday but one fewer than a week earlier.
