VADO HONDO, Guatemala (Reuters) – Guatemalan security forces on Monday started clearing a road where hundreds of mostly Honduran migrants trying to reach the United States had camped overnight after their advance was stopped by officials.
Local video footage showed lines of security forces wielding plastic shields moving down the road towards the migrants near the Guatemalan village of Vado Hondo, about 55 km (34 miles) from the borders of Honduras and El Salvador.
