SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – 104 positive test returns for COVID-19 were logged in Monday’s daily report from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, The report includes Saturday through Monday statistics, and raises the running total to 11,900. At the same time, 175 recoveries dropped the active case county by 71 to 830. Two more hospitalizations since Friday raise that population in the county to 14. With 343 test returns in all, the positive rate was 30%.
The Sheboygan County Dashboard of COVID-19 activity published by the Wisconsin DHS shows the 2-week average case activity level was “Very High”, with a “High” percent of positive test returns, “Medium” level of COVID-like illness, and a “Low” incidence of flu-like illness. The burden rate of COVID cases here is 553.6 cases per 100,000 population, and no significant change in trajectory has been seen in the last 2 weeks.
The Wisconsin DHS, which posts updates 7 days per week, added 1,456 new cases today. Including the weekend and since our last report, 5,334 new cases were added, and the Wisconsin Confirmed Case Count has reached 508,346. With 3,998 negative results, the positive test rate today was 26.7%.
5 more persons died in the last 24-hours, and the state’s death toll is 5,162. 56 more hospitalizations were recorded since Sunday, and after deaths and discharges, the COVID patient population rose 18 to 1,017. 221 of them were in ICU beds. Another 48 patients are waiting for their test results, and 459 patients in all are on ventilators. The Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis remains unoccupied, and three patients are receiving daily antibody infusions there.
——-VACCINATIONS——-
Sheboygan County is currently in Phase 1A of the vaccination roll out. Those now receiving COVID-19 vaccine are those who provide direct patient service or engage in healthcare services involved with COVID-19 patients including hospital/clinic healthcare workers, long-term care facility residents and workers, EMS, and physicians, nurses and other medical workers not affiliated with a hospital system.
The qualifications for the next group, known as Phase 1B, are still being formulated by the state, and no timeline has been given on when we will know what this phase includes. It is anticipated that a clinic to distribute that phase of vaccinations will be operational through Prevea Health at the UW-Green Bay, Sheboygan campus beginning in late January or early February.
