MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — The COVID-19 relief bill passed Thursday by Republicans in the Wisconsin State Assembly very likely would be vetoed if it manages to make it to Democratic Governor Tony Evers’ desk.
The measure eliminates cost sharing for COVID-19 vaccinations, prohibits mandatory vaccination as a condition of employment, allows the visitation of loved ones as skilled nursing facilities, prohibits health officers from banning gatherings in places of worship, and grants the legislature increased oversight on all federal pandemic relief funds, among other things.
Governor Evers lamented Tuesday that the Assembly was not considering what he called a compromise plan he put forward last week, and threatened to veto the legislation.
