KENOSHA, WI (WSAU) — The Kenosha County District Attorney is preparing to announce if there will be charges against police officers involved in the shooting of Jacob Blake last August, which has leaders in the community preparing for more protests.
Mayor John Antaramian and Police Chief Daniel Miskinis released a statement outlining procedures that will be in place once the announcement comes down. That includes designated protesting areas throughout the city, road closures, curfews, and protective fencing in some areas.
Additionally, there will be limited service on the city’s bus routes following the announcement of the decision.
Police are also looking at ways to protect businesses from unlawful activity and looting, while also protecting those who are peacefully protesting.
The shooting on August 23rd left Blake paralyzed from the waist down and sparked several nights of protests and violence, both in Kenosha and in other areas across the nation.
