SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Yet another Sheboygan County resident, this one in their 40s, has fallen victim to COVID-19, the 93rd to succumb to the disease since the pandemic began some nine months ago. Of the 93 who have died, one was between ages 10 and 20, two were in their 30s, four in their 40s, five in their 50s, fifteen in their 60s, twenty-two were in their 70s and forty-four were 80 or older.
Only 123 tests results have been received since Monday, and of those, 17 were positive for COVID-19, a 13.8% rate. 11,197 cases have been confirmed so far in Sheboygan County. 64 more recoveries put that total at 10,082, and 1,022 cases are now active, a drop of 48 since yesterday. Hospitalizations were down 1 at 17.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health advises that with daily numbers subject to wide variations, the two-week trajectories and case loads provide a better measure of the state of the pandemic. Those statistics indicate a “Very High” activity level, with a burden rate of 967.6 cases per 100,000 population. Activity has declined 19% over the past two weeks.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services received 6,017 test results in the last 24-hours, and 2,384 – or 39.6% of those – were positive for COVID-19. 72 deaths due to the disease were added today, with the toll now standing at 4,783. 170 hospitalizations were reported since Monday, and after deaths and discharges, the COVID patient population declined 31 to 1,082. 249 of those are in the ICU. There are no occupants at the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis. 72 more patients were awaiting test results, and 477 in all were on ventilators.
