SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health on Monday notified the public of the youngest victim of COVID-19 to date in Sheboygan County. Identified only as “in the 10-19 age group,” the victim becomes the 92nd since the coronavirus arrived in Sheboygan County in early March. Of the victims, only one was between 10 and 19 years old, two were in their 30s, three in their 40s, five in their 50s, fifteen in their 60s, twenty-two in their 70s and forty-four were 80 or older.
Another 205 positive test returns were logged since the last update on December 23rd, lifting the total confirmed case count to 11,180. 488 negative test results were received in the same time, yielding a positive per-test rate of nearly 30%. The active case count fell 144 to 1,070, as 348 persons joined the ranks of those successfully battling the disease. 18 persons, one less than last Wednesday, was hospitalized.
When judged by 2–week statistical averages, the Sheboygan County Activity Level was “Very High”, with 967 cases per 100,000 persons, and the trajectory was downward at a rate of 19% over the last two weeks.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services, which reports statistics 7 days per week, today added 1,335 confirmed cases of COVID-19 to the running total, which now stands at 472,153 cases. 5,171 test returns were logged in all, yielding a positive test rate of about 26%. 19 more persons’ deaths were attributed to COVID-19 in the last 24-hours, raising the death toll to 4,711. Another 82 persons entered hospitals for treatment of their symptoms. After accounting for discharges and deaths, the total COVID-19 patient population rose 25 to 1,113. 237 of those were in ICU beds, and the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis was empty for at least a second consecutive day. Another 237 persons were hospitalized and awaiting test results, and 466 persons were on ventilators.
The Sheboygan County Facility-Wide Investigations report, normally issued every Thursday, was released today due to the observance of the Christmas holiday. 67 facilities – nine more than reported previously – were listed today. 16 of those were at long-term care facilities. 2 group housing facilities hosted active investigations, which remain open until two maximum incubation periods for COVID-19 have passed since the last possible exposure…currently 28 days. 3 healthcare facility investigations were underway, 29 non-healthcare investigations were being conducted, 1 was in an “other” setting, and 16 education facilities were under investigation.
Of the sixteen long-term care facilities being investigated, the eight which were identified were:

- Pine Haven-Haven Drive Campus
- Progressive
- Rocky Knoll Health Care Center
- Sheboygan Health Services
- Sheboygan Senior Community
- Sunny Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
And of the sixteen educational facilities being investigated, the 14 identified were:
- Christ Child Academy
- Elkhart Lake Middle
- Howards Grove High
- Howards Grove Northview
- Kohler High
- Oostburg Elementary
- Oostburg High
- Oostburg Middle
- Plymouth Riverview Middle
- Sheboygan County Christian
