SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – After compiling statistics covering this past Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the Sheboygan County Department of Health Services had mostly large numbers to deal with. However, the smaller number was tragic, as another death was recorded, this time to someone 80 or older. That raises the county death toll to 79. Of those who have not survived their battle with COVID-19, two were in their 30s, three in their 40s, five in their 50s, twelve in their 60s, 20 in their 70s, and 37 were 80 or older.
The larger numbers were a statistical battle between new cases and recoveries. 371 positive test returns were tallied on Monday, about 37% of all tests returned. 632 persons received the good news of a negative result. 401 recoveries were logged since Friday’s report, outnumbering new cases by 30, and the active case count dropped to 1,592. The hospital population of COVID-19 patients in the county rose by 8, and 21 are now being so treated for their symptoms.
Wisconsin’s Division of Health Service, which updates its stats 7 days a week, added 2,122 positives out of 7,350 test results recorded for a 28.8% positive rate. The 7-day percent positive by person – tests by person – was 27.8%. That’s a level similar to what was seen in early November, and it’s so far been a difficult level to break through on the way back down. 12 deaths were recorded on Monday, bringing the death toll in the state to 2,068. 77 persons had to be hospitalized in the last 24-hours, and the patient population…after accounting for discharges and deaths…was 1,471, 46 more than on Sunday. 319 of those are in the ICU, and 6 patients occupy the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis. Another 118 persons are awaiting their test returns while being treated, and 513 persons are on ventilators.
