SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Sheboygan’s Stefanie Weill Center Foundation, which operates the Weill Center for the Performing Arts, has been included in the $15 million COVID-19 Live Music and Entertainment Venue Grant announced Thursday by Governor Tony Evers. The grants aim to provide financial stabilization to Wisconsin’s live entertainment and large meeting venues, which were among the first small businesses to feel dramatic negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Funds come from the federal CARES act and were based upon 2019 ticket or event sales. The Weill Center was granted $124,930.02.
Wisconsin DOA Secretary Joel Brennan said the grants, along with additional federal action, will hopefully help such venues to survive until live entertainment is once again able to open without restrictions.
