SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The first report on the coronavirus pandemic issued by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health since before Thanksgiving contained mixed news: the deaths of three persons, two in their 60s and one 80+, as well as 614 recoveries between 8 AM last Wednesday and 8 AM Monday, November 30th. 391 new positive test results were recorded in that period out of 998 total tests returned – a positive rate of 39%. 9,125 cases of COVID-19 have so far affected county residents. A net reduction of 226 active cases puts the current count here at 2,377, and of those, 22 are hospitalized…three fewer than last Wednesday.
Wisconsin statistics, which are reported seven days a week, showed 2,534 new positive cases added today, for a total of 387,235 cases of COVID-19. With 8,740 test returns in all, the positive rate was 29%. 6 deaths pushed the toll to 3,3113. 96 more Hospitalizations were noted in the last day, and 6 of the total 1,845 patients were in the Alternate Care Facility at State Park in West Allis. The total hospital patient count was up a net 24 once accounting for discharges and deaths. 395 COVID patients are in the ICU. Another 143 persons are hospitalized with test results pending, and 613 patients are on ventilators.
The County DPH, in its daily report, included a graphic depicting the progression of COVID-19 in the 14 days after exposure. The risk of spreading the disease while asymptomatic at Day 8 is clearly stated, as are the common testing scenarios that allow one to unknowingly transmit the disease, starting with a negative test result shortly after exposure.
