SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – After being advised by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health that wide fluctuations in numbers are possible, Tuesday’s daily update on the COVID-19 pandemic in the county displayed exactly that – resuming a sharp increase after a relatively mild report from over the weekend.
289 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were registered, and with only 100 recoveries in the last 24-hours, the active cases jumped 186 to 2,634. 8,639 persons in all have experienced the disease in Sheboygan County. Hospitalizations were steady at 23, but may have been offset by 3 new deaths in the county since Monday. One of those, one was in their 40s, the other two were 80+, and the death toll here rose to 51. With 148 negative tests returned, the positive rate was 66%.
Wisconsin added 6,202 to the confirmed case count, which now numbers 363,973. With 10,308 negative results, the positive test rate was 37.5%. A new daily high of 104 persons died in the last 24-hours, putting the state’s death toll at 3,115. 279 persons entered hospitals for treatment of COVID-19 since Monday, and once accounting for those either deceased or discharged, the patient population was down 13 for the day to 1,986. 436 of those are in the ICU. Another 142 persons are hospitalized with possible COVID-19 cases – their test results are pending – and 584 persons require ventilation for survival.
9 persons now occupy the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis.
