SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – While applying a cautionary note concerning the numbers contained in the first COVID-19 report of the new week from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, some of the figures were at least hopeful signs of improvement. Recoveries from COVID-19 amounted to 324, easily overcoming the 177 new confirmed cases reported on Monday. With 706 negative tests, the 177 positives represent 20% of all results received. No new deaths were reported between 8 AM Friday and 8 AM Monday, and 4 fewer persons were hospitalized, with 23 persons now receiving such care. They are among 2,448 active cases. 8,350 Sheboygan County residents have had the coronavirus so far.
The County DPH cautioned that numbers can fluctuate significantly from day to day because of the ability to process and confirm cases over the weekend. Instead, the 2-week rates and trajectories give a more accurate picture of the status of COVID-19 in the community.
As a state, Wisconsin is demonstrating downward trajectories of new cases and positive test percentages, which reached a peak on 11/11 with 9,371 positives and a 7-day positive percentage of 17.8%…that percentage was down to 13.3% as of Sunday. 3,095 new confirmed cases were added on Monday, with 357,771 now having tested positive in Wisconsin. 6 more deaths were reported today, putting the death toll at 3,011. 107 more persons were hospitalized since yesterday, placing the state patient population to 1,982. 438 of those are in the ICU. Another 158 are hospitalized and awaiting test results, and 575 persons are now on ventilators.
13 patients now occupy the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis.
