Jose L. Cortez-Rodriguez Sr., age 73, of Sheboygan, WI, passed away peacefully November 17, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Jose was born on February 12, 1947 in Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas, Mexico to Andres and Maria (Rodriguez) Cortez Sr. He married Manuela Garcia-Flores on September 5, 1978 in Laredo, Texas.
Jose enjoyed listening to music, riding his bike, fixing things, and watching TV shows in Spanish. He also never turned down a family member or friend when they needed a helping hand. After moving to Wisconsin Jose enjoyed visiting his siblings in Texas when he could.
Jose is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Manuela; children: Juanita Cortez, Jose Cortez Jr. (Sue Ann), Anna Cortez, Angela (Tim) Gall, Patricia Cordero (Michael), Alejandra Cortez, Melissa Cortez, Andrea (Jonadat Sr.) Garibo-Mayo, Margarita Cortez, Elizabeth Cortez; grandchildren: Jose III, Emily, Andrew, Fernando, Lyndsey, Kaydence, Katelynn, Anthony, Sean, Ashton, Colin, Lita, Marisa, Esmeralda, Natalia, Victoria, Owen, Gabriella, Abigail, Martha, Andres, Jonadat Jr., Ezekiel, Mariana; brothers and sisters: Soledad (Sergio) Garcia, Raul (Maria) Cortez, Guadalupe Cortez, Alberto Cortez, Rosa Elena (Juan) Martinez, Irma (Jesse) Martinez, Reynaldo Cortez, Jesse Cortez; two brother-in-law’s: Norberto Garcia, Alfredo Garcia; one sister-in-law: Maria (Juan) Frias.
He is further survived by many nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Jose was preceded in death by: his parents: Andres and Maria Rodriguez-Cortez Sr.; brothers and sisters: Andres Cortez Jr., Raul Cortez, Sergio Garcia, Antonio Cortez, Guillermo Cortez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for the immediate family at St. Clement Catholic Church. Father Norberto Sandoval will officiate. Private family graveside services will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Sheboygan has been entrusted with Jose’s arrangements.
