SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – After Monday’s report from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health arrived with a significant drop in new and active cases – and perhaps raising hopes of a slowdown – Tuesday’s daily update was a jolt. The death toll increased by 5 to a total of 48, as two persons age 70-79 and three age 80+ passed away since Monday. By age categories, two deaths were to persons in their 30s, one in their 40s, four in their 50s, eight in their 60s, 14 in their 70s, and nineteen were age 80+.
410 new positive test results were received since Monday’s report, leading to a total of 7,635 who’ve contracted COVID-19 in Sheboygan County. With 702 tests received in all, the positive rate was 58.4%. 96 persons have recovered since Monday, leaving the active count up a net of 309 to 2,508 cases. 33 persons are hospitalized, one more than on Monday.
Wisconsin upped its total COVID-19 case record to 323,848 with the addition of 7,090 confirmed cases on Tuesday. 15,653 negative returns were received, putting the positive per-test percentage at 31%. 92 deaths were recorded, lifting the death toll to 2,741. 318 more persons required hospitalization for their treatment, raising the patient population in Wisconsin to 2,277; 431 of those are in the ICU. Another 134 inpatient beds involve pending test results, and 625 persons are on ventilators. 23 patients are being treated in the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis.
Statewide, hospital capacity has reached 89%. Here in the southeast region capacity is at 91%.
