SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – After a week of daily new COVID-19 positive tests in Sheboygan County exceeding 200, the three-day total from 8am Friday through 8am Monday showed only a 110 case increase to 7,225 confirmed cases since the coronavirus pandemic began in March – that according to Monday’s daily update from the County DPH.
Active cases dropped 262 to a total of 2,199 now dealing with their illness, and recoveries handily outpaced new cases with 372 persons now free of the active virus. 32 persons are hospitalized, one less than on Friday. And with 623 test returns received in all, the positive rate was 17.6%, down substantially from last week when rates averaged over 46%.
Wisconsin added 15,593 new confirmed coronavirus cases since Friday morning, 4,389 of those in the last 24 hours. 316,758 COVID-19 cases have now been confirmed in Wisconsin. With 12,298 tests received in all today, the positive rate was just over 35%. 12 more persons died, raising the death toll to 2,649, and another 188 people needed hospitalization since Sunday, raising the patient population to 2,097. 446 of those are in the ICU. Another 197 patients await confirmation that COVID-19 is responsible for their hospitalization, and 586 persons now require ventilation. And 19 persons are receiving treatment at the Alternate Care Facility at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis.
