(WHBL) – A lack of available substitute teachers along with a large number of COVID-19 cases and close-contact quarantines has forced the Howards Grove School District to begin virtual instructions today, one day after the decision was made.
The message to families by Superintendent Chris Peterson explained that the district simply doesn’t have the capacity to open as normal, so all extra-curricular activities were canceled and the virtual classrooms were ordered into play through Friday, November 27th. On Monday, November 30th, both Middle School and High School Students will return to the hybrid model, and students at Northview will return to in-person learning.
The Superintendent urged the community to diligently and vigilantly follow health and safety guidelines. And, while acknowledging that pandemic fatigue may be making that hard, Peterson said that without such participation by the community, all the various steps taken by the district won’t be enough to control the pandemic in schools.
