SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Classrooms may be all virtual for the time being in the Sheboygan Area School District, but COVID-19 isn’t going to disrupt in-person sports. At least that’s the plan from Dan Stengel and Chris Hein, the North and South High School Activities Directors, as winter in-person sports activities are expected to begin Thursday, December 3rd.
The announcement was made even as schedules are being adjusted and are subject to change. And while competition is in-person, coaches may still hold their meetings virtually until the 3rd when the tentative practice schedules are shared.
While the directors expressed hope and optimism, keeping perspective was also emphasized. It’s been nearly 9 months since either North or South High have hosted a school-sponsored co-curricular event, and the level of COVID-19 spread in the community could still sideline the plans. As the announcement summed it up in its conclusion: “During a time of much uncertainty, the one certainty this winter is that things will not be as they always were.”
