MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK)– The state department of health is reporting a new record-high 5,278 new cases of COVID-19 and deaths from the coronavirus have now surpassed 2,000.
The 5,278 cases are up from Friday’s 5,096 total cases.
According to the DHS, 35.5% of Saturday’s testing results came back positive, up from the seven-day average of 28.8% that the DHS was reporting Friday.
The seven-day average of cases confirmed has risen to 4,404 on Saturday after being 4,230 on Friday, per the DHS.
The DHS reported 58 new deaths on Saturday, bringing the total in the state to 2,031.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there has been 2,052,006 people tested, 225,370 positive cases, and 1,826,636 negative test results.
Health officials consider 175,096 patients to be recovered from COVID-19.
The DHS says there are 48,208 active cases of the coronavirus disease.
Wisconsin hospitals are reporting to the DHS that 1,575 of the 11,109 hospital beds are immediately available throughout the state.
There are 1,546 COVID-19 patients receiving hospital care with 350 in the ICU.
Wisconsin has a statewide supply of 2,320 ventilators with 502 in use.
