MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network-WSAU) – The poll worker shortage in Wisconsin is not as severe as the spring election. About 200 workers are still needed, mostly in rural parts of the state.
Wisconsin elections administrator Meagan Wolfe says National Guard personnel will again be available to serve as poll workers on Election Day. “Our clerks have just done an incredible job in preparing for having those additional poll workers. And so we’re expecting around 400. And again, they’re just serving in a reserve capacity. We don’t know that they’ll be needed, but they’ll be available regionally to be called up.”
Wolfe says the National Guard did a great job last April. “They’re serving their own community in civilian clothing. So these are the voters’ neighbors, friends, family that might be serving in a poll worker role on Election Day, in the event that there’s an unexpected shortage.”
