The USDA released the 2019 Certified Organic Survey that shows what each state contributes to the organic side of agriculture. Wisconsin ranked #2 in organic production, while California topped the list and New York came in third. All together there were 16,585 certified organic farms throughout the country, which is up by 14% from the year before!
Here are the numbers from Wisconsin as of last year:
- There were 1,364 organic farms helping grow crops in 2019.
- We produce 9% of organic milk in the U.S.
- 25% of organic cranberries
- 17% of organic silage
