UNDATED (WSAU) – The promoter of two of Wisconsin’s biggest music festivals is bankrupt.
Hypervibe, the promoter behind County USA and Rock USA, will file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the next few weeks.
The two outdoor festivals, which have drawn huge crowds to Oshkosh, were both canceled this year. Ticket holders had the choice of getting refunds or carrying over their tickets for 2021. Those who chose the latter option will have to file claims with the bankruptcy court. Hypervibe says people who are entitled to refunds will be getting instructions in the mail. A statement says, “We have taken pains to individually list the ticketholders.”
A Chapter 7 bankruptcy means a company is going out of business and its assets will be liquidated by a court-appointed trustee. Other County USA and Rock USA ticket-holders have been trying to organize a class-action lawsuit. They will also likely have to file claims with the bankruptcy court. It is unclear if ticket-holders will get full or partial refunds, or anything at all.
It is unclear if another promoter will continue the events.
A Facebook post from Hypervibe says: “We are heartbroken by the events which have caused this horrible situation. We also care about our loyal patrons, for without them, there wouldn’t have been so many years of these great events. We are trying to do right by our loyal supporters and get you a refund, to the extent possible, quickly and equitably.”
