MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Coronavirus activity remains high in Wisconsin as the state has resumed daily updates.
Monday’s update was the first since Friday as the Department of Health Services worked on computer system upgrades over the weekend.
The numbers showed 3,777 new confirmed cases on Monday and a record 3,928 on Sunday. No results were reported for Saturday.
DHS also reported 12 new deaths on Monday.
Seven-day averages stood at 3,099 new cases and 18 deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 173,891 confirmed cases in Wisconsin, more than 1.7 million negative tests and 1,600 deaths. As of Monday, DHS considered 136,910 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus.
The state has also begun providing updates on the alternate care facility which opened last week at State Fair Park in West Allis. So far, no patients have been moved to the facility.
Meanwhile, hospitalizations continue to break records. Wisconsin hospitals on Monday reported a record 1,172 COVID-19 patients, 302 of which were in intensive care units. The total patients were up 82 from Sunday and 222 from a week earlier, while ICU numbers represented a one-day increase of 18 and seven-day increase of 62.
In the Northeast region, there were 179 total patients, up 10 since Sunday and 35 in a week. Of those, 53 were in intensive care, seven fewer than on Sunday and the same number as a week earlier. Fox Valley hospitals reported 151 total patients, three more than a day earlier and 20 more than a week earlier. The number of ICU patients was 18, one more than on Sunday and eight more than a week earlier.
