DUBLIN (Reuters) – Ireland’s cabinet will be asked to approve a move to the highest level of COVID-19 restrictions for six weeks, local media outlets including the Irish Times reported on Monday.
The newspaper said talks between senior ministers and health officials resulted in the proposed move to Level 5 constraints rather than an enhanced Level 4, which two sources familiar with the plans had told Reuters was being initially considered.
The cabinet was due to convene at 1500 GMT, with an announcement by Prime Minister Micheal Martin expected later on Monday.
