MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — Just two days after the state of Wisconsin saw a record number of new COVID-19 cases, the record has again been broken.
State health officials announced 3,747 new positive tests, the third consecutive day more than 3,000 cases were reported in the state. The positive tests constituted 24.6% of the 15,202 total tests reported.
Another 17 deaths were reported in the state. Seven-day averages rose to 2,927 cases and 18 deaths, both record highs.
Over 1,000 people are currently hospitalized.
There have been 162,325 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Wisconsin along with around 1.6 million negative tests and 1,553 deaths. DHS counts 127,576 people as having recovered from COVID-19.
The state’s new alternative care facility in the Milwaukee suburb of West Allis is open, but as of Thursday, it has yet to see a single patient.
