MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The GOP-controlled state legislature will require Governor Evers’ latest COVID-19 order to go through the formal rule-making process.
The Joint Committee for the Review of Administrative Rules voted 6-4 to require the Department of Health Services to present an emergency rule to the committee in the next 30 days. DHS Secretary Andrea Palm can respond within 30 days or ignore the request. The committee could then vote to block the measure.
The current order is scheduled to expire in 26 days. It remains in effect during that time.
Emergency Order Number 3 limits indoor gatherings to 25-percent of a building’s capacity, impacting restaurants, bars, and retail stores. There are exceptions for schools, daycare centers, and hospitals. The order does not apply to outdoor events.
