MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It’s another day over new COVID-19 cases well above the 2,000 mark in Wisconsin.
New deaths, however, dipped below recent highs.
According to the state Department of Health Services, there were 2,745 positive tests, or 20.2% of the 13,595 total tests completed. Five deaths were reported, following two consecutive days of more than 20 deaths.
Those numbers compare to seven-day averages of 2,439 cases and 11 deaths. The total case number was down from Thursday’s record 2,887.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 127,906 cases, more than 1.4 million negative tests and 1,353 deaths. DHS considers 101,669 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
