BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) – Argentina’s poverty rate rose to 40.9% in the first half of 2020, the country’s official INDEC statistics agency said on Wednesday, underscoring the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the South American country’s population.
The poverty rate was a significant uptick from 35.5% recorded for the second half of 2019.
