MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The coronavirus surge continues in Wisconsin, with nearly 22% of tests reported Monday coming back positive.
The state Department of Health Services reported 1,726 new confirmed cases on Monday, out of 7,885 total tests. Two more people died.
Seven-day averages rose to 2,155 cases, 18.2% positive testing and six deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 117,588 confirmed cases and more than 1.4 million negative tests. A total of 1,283 people have died. DHS considers 96,727 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Monday’s update came only hours after Brown County unveiled a new dashboard to track various metrics related to the pandemic.
It also came on the same day the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin issued a dire warning about spread of the virus in the area.
Hospital data had not been updated for the day as of early Monday afternoon.
