Big shout out to egg farmers in the U.S. because they’ve been donating more than ever this year! According to new donation numbers, America’s egg farmers have donated over 46 million eggs so far in 2020 and the year isn’t over with yet. Feeding America said that donations are more important this year than ever before.
The non-profit says they think there’ll be an additional 17.1 million people suffering from hunger in the Country. The food banks are also struggling because they have $1.4 billion less in donations this year compared to other years.
The tricky part about eggs is that they’re always in demand at food banks, but they spoil easily so food banks need to get them distributed quickly. To remedy the issue, some farmers are donating straight from their farms.
