MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network-WSAU) – More schools and businesses are connecting digitally and remotely as the pandemic continues, and that’s a challenge for people who don’t have the resources to get broadband.
The Wisconsin Public Service Commission is hoping to help people get access to broadband while COVID-19 continues to force people to work from home and learn from home. Their helpline is there as a means to get broadband access, especially in rural areas. State consumer protection administrator Lara Sutherlin says this line is not for help with an existing line. “If you’re having internet connectivity problems with your particular provider, again you have to call your provider for help with that.”
She says without reliable broadband service, working or learning from home can be impossible. “A lot of people are at home and they’re working from home, and internet connectivity is a real challenge particularly for people in rural areas.”
The PSC has resources available to help you connect with providers, and you can find out more by calling 608-267-3595.
