MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network) – The number of people hospitalized in Wisconsin due to COVID-19 now exceeds 500.
According to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, 509 people were hospitalized as of Wednesday, the largest number since the pandemic began, and 140 people were in intensive care. The state Department of Health Services reported more than 1,700 new cases, with a positive test rate of 13.1 percent.
DHS also reported eight deaths, bringing the death toll to 1,259.
Of the 105,932 Wisconsinites who have tested positive, 84.4%, or 89,393, have recovered by DHS standards.
