MADISON (WLUK) — Thirteen of the sixteen counties in Northeast Wisconsin have seen increasing coronavirus activity over the past two weeks, according to the state’s weekly dashboard.
The burden and activity level were also listed as high for each of those counties. Burden is defined as the number of cases per 100,000 residents, and activity level takes into account the burden and how it has changed over the past two weeks.
Among area counties, only Door, Florence and Waushara had no statistically significant change in trajectory over the past two weeks. All others had growing trajectories.
Statewide, only Dane and Walworth counties showed shrinking trajectories of activity.
Meanwhile, the state Department of Health Services reported 1,762 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday out of 13,453 tests completed, or 13.1% positive. Another eight people died of COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Those numbers compared to seven-day averages of 1,888 cases, 16.9% positive and four deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 105,932 confirmed cases, more than 1.3 million negative tests and 1,259 deaths. DHS listed 89,393 people as having recovered from COVID-19.
