MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin broke its record for daily coronavirus cases for the second day in a row Friday, while the positive testing rate was above the seven-day average.
The state Department of Health Services reported 2,533 positive tests out of 13,067 completed, or 19.4%. There were also seven new deaths reported.
Seven-day averages stood at 1,575 cases, 15.3% test positivity and six deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 97,279 cases, more than 1.3 million negative tests and 1,238 deaths. As of Friday, DHS considered 83,184 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Hospitalization data had not been updated for the day as of early afternoon.
