CALDWELL CO, MO (WTAQ-WLUK) – The case against the man who allegedly killed two Shawano County brothers has been moved to another Missouri County.
Garland Nelson is charged with multiple counts, including two counts of murder in the first-degree for the July 2019, deaths of Nick and Justin Diemel.
Missouri court records show after a defense motion for a change of venue, the case was moved Tuesday from Caldwell County to Johnson County.
Caldwell County is in the northwest part of the state, while Johnson County about 80 miles south.
Officials say the two were at Nelson’s cattle farm to collect $250,000 Nelson owed them. The complaint says Nelson killed the brothers, burned their bodies, and hid them in a manure pile.
Memorial services are planned for Sunday in Shawano County for the brothers.
