MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network-WSAU) Looking to make things easier for its 13,000 employees nationwide, Madison-based American Family Insurance will give them a full day of paid time off to vote.
Tracy Schweitzer, American Family’s Vice President of Human Resources, told FOX 6 News: “2020 has just been a very eventful year… What we’re finding is employees are working harder than ever, and we are doing this to encourage all employers to make sure their workers have time to vote.”
Employees can use the time on November 3 or during their state’s early and absentee voting period. “We’ve long held that voting is an important part of your civil duty,” Schweitzer said. “With the pandemic, and with the additional responsibilities of child care, we decided that our employees needed some extra flexibility.”
They are not required to show proof that they actually voted. In addition, two American Family facilities in Madison are being used as polling places.
