MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The seven-day average of new coronavirus cases in Wisconsin continued its sharp rise on Tuesday, reaching 1,261.
Meanwhile, the state Department of Health Services reported 10 new deaths, including the first one in Menominee County.
DHS reported 1,348 positive tests on Tuesday out of 12,266 total completed. The 11% positivity rate was the lowest since last Wednesday and below the seven-day average of 14%.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 91,304 confirmed infections, nearly 1.3 million negative tests and 1,220 deaths. DHS considers 79,557 people as having recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Wisconsin hospitals had not updated their patient numbers for the day as of early Tuesday afternoon.
The pandemic has also had major impacts on the University of Wisconsin campuses in Madison and La Crosse, with classes being shifted online and student movement in dorms restricted. In Northeast Wisconsin, UW-Oshkosh has adjusted food service procedures and Lawrence University has closed campus buildings to the public.
