McDonald’s and Tyson Foods Inc. just announced that they’re teaming up to donate 1 million lbs of protein to food banks in six different states. To put that in perspective, 1 million lbs adds up to 4 million meals. The food will be donated in Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, and Missouri.
Overall, McDonald’s and Tyson have both stepped up to help people over the years. For example, McDonald’s has all together donated $19.02 million in food, which is over 12.3 million lbs. They’ve also given out more than 12 million free Thank You Meals. Some of those meals were given to the front-line workers like doctors, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, police officers, even to hospital maintenance employees.
As for Tyson, since the virus came to the U.S. and states started to close in the middle of March, they’ve donated about 104 million meals. Those meals were distributed to people in need, which included Tyson employees, Feeding America, and food pantries in their area. Thank you to McDonald’s and Tyson for helping people out and making a difference in their lives.
