SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The largest known housing development so far planned in Sheboygan now has a name. Missouri-based Green Street Development Group LLC had announced its plans to develop an apartment complex on the existing Van Der Vaart property on South 16th Street 11 months ago, and on Thursday the company announced that it had purchased the property and will name the development “The Oscar.” The name pays homage to Oscar Zimbal who established his brick company on the site in 1888.
The 17.5-acre site will feature a high-density, mixed-use development of 240 one, two and 3-bedroom apartments economically priced for the workforce segment, a new Kwik Trip and a 1-1/2 acre lot for a use still to be determined. The first phase is planned to open in September next year.
